What substrated can i use for uro's and what is the best?
What kind of substrate you use, or what is the "best" is all a matter of individual preference.
I use pool filtration sand which I get from Home Depot at a cost of $5 for a 50 lb bag. The uros have no problem digesting it, although I would not use if for small babies.
The "best" substrate, and most expensive, would be bird seed (without sunflower seeds!). Read more about this at Deer Fern Farms, their care sheets are very complete.

is lizzard litter ne good
if i knew what it was i'd tell you for sure. generally i don't like putting the uros on anything that holds too much moisture. and i never put them on calcisand either. i had them on these little pebbles for a while but after talking to lindsay pike at a show i decided to do the pool filtration sand, like he does. i have never had a problem with it and the uros love to kick it around. it's also not as dusty as a lot of other substrates.

Hi,
I keep my guys on parakeet seed (only small seeds, mainly millet) and it works great. Isn't dusty, looks nice, cheap to buy, and they snack on it throughout the day. It is only $3 a bag at walmart (my 4.5' cage takes about 6 or 7 bags). I think it's the safest way to go since uros are fed seed anyways, so if they ingest it by accident (or on purpose) it is deffinitely digestible
I heard washed playsand works fine too (I use it for my tortoise with no problems) but don't buy like calci sand from the pet store - $8 for a small little bag, which can be harmful. Go to Home Depot or Lowes and get playsand, or any millet seed (parakeet or wild bird) will do. Hope this helps

the best sand u can get is the zoo med repti sand its real desert sand real fine sand , don't get the calci sand thats bad, and the waashed playsand that u can get at home depot is ok but is very very dusty and u have to sift the pebbles out and isn't ever gonna be as fine as the zoo med repti sand which is real fine and dust free, i personally go with the repti sand even though it costs more its worth it for my uro, u can get a 10 lbs bag for like 8 dollars at a reptile show and the 5 pound bags for like 4-5 dollars
The best substrate for Uros is a mix of soil/sand. You want something that will hold in enough moisture for them to dig tunnels. Make sure your enclosure is large enough to have a deep substrate. Birdseed should be avoided as a substrate. It is imposible to burrow in and will harbor molds and fungus. Plus eating seeds they poop in cant be that good.....
