Most colubrids are great escape artist. If you give then enough room to get there head through there gone.Make sure the top is securely fastened to the tank, adding some weight to it wont hurt either.People who see my setups are appalled at the fact that i have 2 phone books stacked on top of my cages for my corns,i used locked cages for my boa's.My snake loss paranioa is acute since my wife will kill me slowly if one ever escapes.....Paul.

Is the Critter Cage the kind with the sliding screen top (that looks like a screen window)? I had one of those several years ago, and had a Florida kingsnake that actually bent the edge back and escaped. I was lucky though, because I found him 3 weeks later laying on the kitchen floor. He was a very big snake (over 6'), but a big cornsnake might be able to do it too. If this is the type of cage you have, maybe try to clip the back edge tight, or use some velcro. Good luck.
