2 Chameleons

Dexpanther Nov 16, 2003 08:17 PM

Hey all, i was just wondering (for those of you that have 2 chameleons or more. If you like one chameleon better then the other. The reason im asking this is becuase i want to get another panther chameleon. I already have one named Dex (Nosy Be). And i really enjoy his company. when you have 2 chameleons do you treat both of them equally? thats what im afraid of. Negelcting one of them. Any suggestions would be great!

LOL good question. The first chameleon is the one everyone learns with. Some of us (including me) learn the hard way, sometimes with little or no information to go by (I was a batchelor in a small Utah town looking for company and noone told me a thing when I bought him). The second chameleon is the one everyone tries their hardest to get right. But I don't think it would be neglected. If keeping one chameleon takes you, say, 30 minutes a day in total maintenance, having two won't double it.... Maybe plan on 40-45 minutes a day. But let me warn you, once you get 2 or 3, you better hide your wallet. Many of us know about how out of control an addiction to chameleons can be. I had 2 Jacksons, then I needed a veiled, since it seemed like everyone had them.... Then I had to have a panther, etc etc etc. Then you get all these chameleons and you want girls or boys for them all. You know how it goes. I put in a good 3 hours a day during the week on them and 6 or 7 hours of my Saturdays and Sundays. It's hard hours with no time off and no vacations, but it's all worth it!

Uh Oh this is a bad sign for me--I just got my first cham this year...

Tell me you're not still a bachelor

No, I'm not still a batchelor. I wish I was though! I had a fun few years until the wedding bells rang.

P.S. If anyone asks, I never said that....

my first is my favorite. he is a nosey be cross and has an excellent personality! i don't neglect the others i just find myself spending more time with him takeing picture or extra snacks or being out of his cage more. the opthers get all of that just ECO gets a bit more. if you have the time and space for a second i would do it.

We have two veiled chameleons. Jade and Roan. We got Roan while I was pregnant, and I did most of his daily care, being on maternity leave and such. Chris did all the bad stuff like cleaning his cage. So Roan really prefers me over Chris.
But Jade, she hates me. I spray her most times, and she just runs from me. But she prefers Chris.
So we have no preference, but they do!

I agree with tyler. HIDE YOUR WALLET! They are addicting. I keep telling myself I should have gotten a dog instead, they are not addicting and in most cases cheaper than a panther cham.
