Could this kill my gecko?

kyle_gecko Nov 16, 2003 08:42 PM

A while ago i got 2 normal "female" babies when they were about 5 or 6 months old i think. I kept them together in a 30 gallon tank, but one of them was a bit jumpy so I never held "her" yet, I was gona wait till "she" got older. they both are around 25 grams, I weighed the nice one yesterday, and that is when i noticed she has 2 large eggs in her!!! So I grabed the other gecko even tho "she" didn't like it and checked and she turned out to be a noticable male leopard gecko. So i guess my question is how could a young gecko like that get pregnet and will it kill her when she lays the eggs? I sperated them, and been trying to fatten the girl up as fast as I can. Is there anything i can do to help her lay the eggs?

Thanks for help! I am really worried about the little girl...

There isn't really anything special you can do to help her, make sure she is well fed and has access to a lay box and plenty of calcium... Just feed her well and see what happens.

25g is awefully small to be carrying eggs. Are you sure she is gravid?

A 25g gecko has a much higher than average chance of becoming egg bound; I hope everything works out for you.

Keep us updated.

Ya i am positive my adult geckos laid there eggs a few days ago, I took some pictures but they are not with a dig camera so i have to use the rest of the roll.. The eggs are very noticable on her cause of her small size the push out on her sides quite a bit...
Looks like they could come out any day now..I am worried
