Hello
I hooked up with some Panacur......... I was told to just use a drop........ how important is exact dose?
Ok- Panacur (fenbendazole) can be bought at feed stores and on the internet- yes it is used as a dewormer for a variety of species, but this does not mean you should be using it on your exotic without the guidance of a vet. You have invested in a very special animal, as well as hopefully a good set-up for it. Now invest in an exam by a veterinarian and have a fecal checked for parasites. With the exact weight of your pet, and what they find on the fecal- they will give you a correct and safe dose (if your PTS has something fenbendazole will treat). If you want to bring your own panacur- they can look at the concentration and calculate how much to give.
You have been having difficulties with your PTS as evidenced by your multiple posts- maybe fenbendazole will be what it needs, but you have had the animal for several weeks now- find the time take the needed steps to help your PTS- you are trying to skip to the end, and missing the important middle section (like what is actually wrong with your animal).

Congratulations on "hooking up" with medicine that could be very useful in the right hands. As you don't know how much to give or even whether the animal needs it, you should not give it any at all. (Whoever told you to just give it a drop is obviously not a qualified veterinarian, so the advice is useless.)
I believe that answers your question as directly and politely as I can put it.

Hello,
When internally medicating Corucia, A precise weight is always a prerequisite.

I think everyone is actually pretty relaxed at the moment. The responses could have been worded much more strongly as to how I or others feel about taking the practice of medicine into one's own hands- as well as the frustration felt when people post about skinks that they obviously care about, but aren't taking the needed steps to provide the best care possible for them. Each of us who reads and posts regularly on the skink forum has a special fondness for skinks in general as well as for particular species of skinks- and do so to be helpful to the general public so they can best care for their skinks, and to share info on them. I will answer just about any post about Corucia- I always try to be clear and try to avoid being rude, even when I get annoyed.
I am glad you read, reading is a good thing, and I am glad you know better than to give random doses of a drug to your PTS- but you need go further than the internet, books, or your local pet or feed store for your total PTS care.

Can I just add to everyone's comments? Panacur is very strong and should not be use unless necessary. Sometimes it can do more harm than good.
