Shipping help needed asap

aliceinwl Nov 17, 2003 12:22 AM

I live in California and I have a cousin in New York to whom I'd like to ship some leos.

I'm planning on ordering supplies from: http://www.reptilepackaging.com/

And I'm planning on folowing the procedures outlined at:
http://www.progeckos.com/

I'd like to ship UPS, but I've heard conflicting information concerning the need for an account. Is there anyone who can help me on this front?

Thanks!
Alice

Hi Alice,

Sounds like you are doing everything right so far.

As far as UPS goes... just go to www.myups.com and set up an online account. It doesn't take long.

After you set up an account online you can create shipments from your personal computer and print out your own shipping labels. It's also much cheaper to ship directly through UPS.

Good luck.

It is even cheaper to ship via USPS express mail. I have never had a single problem shipping with them.

Just an additional suggestion... depending on how many geckos you plan to ship in the future, if it's only for this time you can also just go to Staples or the UPS Store and ship through them. Since they have an account with UPS, you would not need to set up an account yourself if you didn't want to. They may charge you a few bucks extra at those places though.

If you chose to ship through the USPS, make absolutely sure they will guarantee overnight shipping. Sometimes they will charge you for overnight, but cannot guarantee it will arrive the next day. They will refund your money if doesn't, but it's a hassle and it would mean the gecko would be in the box, airport, tarmack, or plane for 48 hours or more. It's getting cold, too.
