What's the news on the possible mild toxin on garter snakes? Any links?

Pretty much every colubrid known to man has deadly toxins in their saliva.Deadly to you? No.Not even to the prey they eat.If you let a garter chew on you hand for a while you will swell up.I have had this happen a couple of months ago.The snake was on me for about 5-10 min.Half of my hand went numb.It went away about 4 hours later.I know some venomous snake expert wrote a paper on it recently. He said rat snakes have the same toxins as most cobras.
Hope this helped a little bit
Tom
