I'm first setting up my tank to prepare when I get my gecko. I also know to use papertowel or newspaper but how thick should it be, like how many layers of paper towel should I use?

Thank you

I use 2 layers of paper towels and that seems to work well enough.

it depends on the heat of the UTH felt through the tank. if i put 3 folded layers on top of the UTH, I can feel heat with no burning sensation... the parts of the tank without the UTH i put two folded layers like sotik does . but if i put 2 folded layers on the UTH side, it's a little too hot for my hand and might hurt my leo so try a couple folded paper towels on one side w/o the UTH and 3 or 4 folded ones on the UTH side depending on the heat

good luck & take care!

My UTS is set for 86 to 88 degrees F for the warm side and 80 to 81 degrees F on the cooler side, is that too warm or too cool for tank. The books I've read said to put it around this temp and I dont want to hurt my leo went I pick her up next week.

Hi
I had some weird problems when my Gecko Daisy was put into her home with paper towels. She tore them up. I would replace them, she do it again. I then put in Bone Aid sand, I have read peoples views on it and the like, but she loves it, doesnt eat it, but loves laying in it. Got me. She has been doing fine since then. We got her from a breeder, maybe she was raised on that kind of substrate. She is 8 inches now, eats almost anything we give her, crickets, supers, waxs, no problem. I like giving her crickets more than the others. Have a nice day.
