It's my understanding that superworms don't pupate.

(someone correct me if I'm mistaken)

If you isolate them, they will pupate.

i am clueless about whether supers pupate or not... but i have heard that supers have a really long shelf life i read that you can keep them in a container for 3 months & they'll just be bigger worms

Hi Lauren,

Just give them time. If you have each worm separated they should pupate. Are any of the worms curled? If you see that the worms curled up then it's starting its metamorphosis process. If the worm is straight looking then it is probably dead. Also keep them about 80 degrees F for best results. Hope this helps.

I have a detailed care sheet on my web site.

Thanks

I just want to keep them alive

I gave them a water pouch (the one with the gel inside)
they went NUTS, chewed through it and ar burrowing in the gel

Did I do a bad thing?

They have lots of food (that I got when I ordered them) but they did not come with any water source
How much moisture should I give them in the tank?
would the oange cubes from flukers be enough?
or should I keep dampening the gel pack
are there any foods that will help them grow bigger more quickly?

I know I should go to the feeders Forum with this (I had planned to, but you werre here, adn someone else here might want the info so I did not PM you with this)

thanks in Advance

you can use those cubes...but a much cheaper way is to use carrots or raw potatoes as moisture. the gel pack type water source is GREAT for crickets but as you can tell these supers can chew through alot. I would just use apple, carrot or potato. thewy get their feed from the bedding of Bran or oates. bran is very cheap for around 5 dollars a bag, a 50 lbs bag! thats what i use, but i also have a barn full of horses so it is easy..
Good luck!

Thanks. The cheapest way is to use carrots or potatoes. I use carrot and they only cost 2 something for 10 lbs at Costco. Supers need a ton of moisture. If they don’t get enough they will start eating each other. If you want them to grow faster keep them well fed, have plenty of moisture, and keep them nice and warm.

I keep dripping a bit more water into the gel pac (until it is all gone) then I will use carrots
The orange cubes are kinda good, because when they dry out I can just dump them into some water, and the orange drains out, and the re-plump up, so then i drop them back in

Thanks for the help
