Cave Rat cooling survey

sjohn Nov 17, 2003 01:29 PM

For those of you breeding Cave Rats (ridleyi) I think it would be interesting to know how you are cooling these guys for the upcoming breeding season since there seems to be some variations on this. Are you dropping nightime temps much like python breeders do (which is what I do) or is there anyone cooling them down like in the typical coulubrid regiment. I think I have heard of people putting them together in the winter while they are dropping night temps. Whatever your strategy please post it.

Hi
I don't actually cool my Ridleyi, although here in the UK
we do have slightly cooler nights, even with central heating.
I seperate them in december for a week or two, then reintroduce
them, which seems to be enough.
Having seen them in their wild state, i wouldn't think
cooling them colubrid style would be a good thing, malaysia
does not get cold, just a bit cooler than very hot, if you know what i mean.
I would also be interested to hear what other Ridleyi keepers
do to induce a breeding response.
