What can I do?

Knot May 31, 2003 05:16 PM

My smallest FBT is getting more than his fair shares of crickets. He is the one who eat the most. I have to keep putting in a little more crickets for the other larger ones because the little guy keeps gobling it down before the others have the chance. Is there a way to feed them, so he doesn't over eat without removing him into another enclosure. i don't want to move it because i don't want to stress him out.

Oh, and...I try feeding Kimpeck, the very tame fat one, by holding and waving a cricket infront of him and also, rubbing it against his lip, and he took it. Wow, that was very exciting. I thought people on here was just kidding, but he actually ate it right out of my fingers.

If one frog is cheating the others out of food, seperate it. This can be pretty stressful for the frogs as well. Andy

It's no big deal, though, because the others get enough eat. I make sure i put more in, enough for them. The problem is I don't want to over feed the little guy. I guess the only ways is to seperate them from him or chase him to the the part of the tank farther from the crickets, so the other would be able to eat more of it and would have to waste more money on the crickets, and he won't over eat.

Do you think it's good that I feed them more during the hotter seasons because their metabolism is higher? And I want them to have enough fat in preperation fot the winter. I don't usually use the heater for the FBT's because read they like the cooler temperature than other amphibians, and it doesn't get really cold, anyway, here. However, last winter, I did use the heat lamp with 40 watts since i gave my pac-man away, so I have the heat lamp that i don't use for anything.
