Question about Ball Caging.

Python May 31, 2003 05:19 PM

Hi! How long can a ball python live in a cage ( plastic sweaterbox style) that is approx. 1 feet long, 2 feet wide and 1 foot high? Thanx in advance!

I would say…
Always remember that a big enclosure may stress your BP for your BP is easily intimidated. I would suggest that a good size enclosure would be one where the floor diagonal is approximately equal to the length of the BP. By this approximation, your cage would be good for a BP up to more or less 2.25 feet in length.
But keep in mind that my ball is a pet. The size may differ from a breeding program and pet( I don’t know).

I go by the one sq/length of snake. So, yup, about 2 feet.

I keep my balls in a 9.5 high x 16 wide x 23 deep Rubbermaid and my largest ball is 2200 grams. They are not an active snake, so disregard those who tell you you need a huge enclosure. also, my balls are pets, as well as breeders.

Sorry Mykee, I should have said “my BP is in a Display tank”… and not “my BP is a pet”. Most people who own BPs for breeding also own them as Pets. I mean you gotta like the animal to work with it, right? I hope one day I will start my own little business so I definitely have to correct myself right now.

Sorry once again,
PB
