I Lost My Burm

rsalib Nov 17, 2003 04:17 PM

i hate myself. I usually do not need to put the lock on the cage. But the day I don't put it on, I come home and the cage door is ajar, and no python to be found. She is only 36inches long and small enough to be anywhere. Hopefully she is still in my room.

Should I just go out and buy another one?

I'm so upset, so heartbreaking, especially all the tribulations we have been through together, getting her healthy.

I know you must think I don't deserve another one.

look in every dark place you can think of. They like warm places so check the washer, dryer, anything electronic like stereos, computers, etc. Everyone makes mistakes, some worse than others, I let a possibly sick snake come in contact with one of my baby's two weeks ago, and I may be finding out the hard way...we'll know more this week. Anyway, they can live for a long time without food, so youre chances of finding him alive are very high. Watch where you walk at night, don't want to step on him.

Look in your closet inside jackets in shoes, on the shelve/shelves in the closet, under the bed and anywhere else in your room.
I have found snakes in clothes, shoes, back of computer, small boxes i had, top shelf in my closet etc;
Give it time, don't go buy another as your little one will be found...

Sorry to hear that. My 5ft boa the other day managed to slide open the glass door of his Vision cage and FORTUNATELY I happened to walk over to his cage to find him dangling halfway out before he escaped! The glass is a bit thick and heavy and isnt easy to slide but he managed somehow. Anyway, follow the advice of the above posts and you *should* find him. It may take some time, but eventually you'll probably find him wedged somewhere hiding. Good luck and let us know when you find him.

Let me start off by saying I don't think you should go out and buy another one. Wait to see if it will appear first.

And, welcome to the club. I don't think that there is a person out there that has not had a snake escape. So, now you've joined the club. The next step is to make sure it never happens again. I am not trying to be harsh here at all. This is just how I have personally taken my snakes escape. These animals should never be allowed to escape. It is our responsibility to the animal, to our other pets, our neighbors, our family, etc. to keep these animals under lock and key at all times. I know your animal is a baby now. But, especially with an animals that have the potential to cause harm (ie large constrictors)....It is our responsibility to everyone to keep things safe.

Best of luck finding it. I sure hope it shows up for you.

I have a pretty dusty room, luckily i guess. lol

I was chatting online, watching tv, then I hear a hiss or I guess a sneeze. I was like WHAT THE HELL IS THAT. So I go nuts. Because by now I haven't slept more than 4 hour since I came home last night and realized she is gone, I haven't eaten except one sandwich. So I'm really irritated and edgey.

I go crazy looking in the corner, she ends up being behind my vcr under the cover i have on it. Wooooooooo Hooooooooooooooo

But guess what little python, lock is on EVERYDAY now. lol

Thanks for your support people. That really means a lot to me to have a support network for my snake. Trust me, it's not easy to find sympathy for a normally feared, but still very beautiful creature and set of animals.

Good thing you found her. Never give up hope on those things, they occasionally escape and show up MONTHS later.

It's not a burmese, but I recently had my male Yellow Anaconda escape and I couldn't find it no matter how much I looked. (The room it escaped in was FULL of hiding places.)

One day, I heard something fall, and there it was: Right in the middle of the floor.

It took probably two months. In the end, it found me.
