Sunken Eye

Chelo Nov 17, 2003 06:00 PM

Hi, todya I was handling my Boa, Moe, and I notice that one of his eyes has a sunked spot. I want to know if this is normal, because he seem to be starting his shedding process.
Thanks a lot, and sorry for my English, but I´m a reptile fan from Chile.

Generally that can be caused by either trauma or lack of hydration. You might want to try and mist you cage a little more for some extra humidity. When your snake sheds......Is it all in one piece? If not, I would lean twords the humidity issue. There are gauges out there that will tell you the humidity in the tank. I think they run about 5-6 dollars.
Hope this helps,
John

Your usage of the english language was better than many born and raised US citizens. To answer your question, "dented" eyes are not altogether uncommon....however as stated previously, you may want to check humidity levels. If it IS just a dent, they *normally* work themselves out. Hope this helps.
