New Additions and sad news

wraithy Nov 17, 2003 06:26 PM

First the sad news....my baby jackson passed on last night. He was a little over 2 months old and he was the sole survivor of the cross country trek from California to Pennsylvania ( he didnt drive with us...he flew with my wife and the rest of the menagerie). He seemed to be doing just fine up until last night when I noticed he was kinda pale. I watched him eat some pinheads and drink some water so I figured he was just in night mode. This morning he was dead on the ground. Poor lil guy! I'm going to bury him in the back yard with the 3toed turtle that passed last month.

Now the good news...I have a few new additions to my family. My wife and I went to the Philly herp show Saturday and picked up on some great deals.

here are our additions. I will post pictures as soon as I find some time to take them.

0.0.1 - 3toed baby turtle - no name yet
0.0.1 - gulf coast box - no name yet
1.1 - Nosy Be's - 12 weeks old - no names yet (different clutches)
1.1 - Veiled Chams - 12 weeks old (female is from sunburst parents) - no names yet (Different breeders)

1800 dead crickets, 200 llive crickets (reptilefood.com is going to replace them for free)
2 free T-shirts
200 free crickets from timberline (free samples they gave me all the leftovers once the show wrapped)

I built my first cages and they loook great! I need to refine my technique before I post plans and diagrams for you guys.

Anyway....Hope everyone had a great weekend!

Sorry to hear about your loss it sounds that it was probably stressed and just didn’t give you enough signs to act on. They say that chams are great at hiding illness, stress, etc. b/c in the wild they would be more of a target if their health/stress showed externally - this is true in general of wild animals. When I lost my trio of leaf chams (still don't know why and probably never will) the final two weeks showed problems that i was totally unaware of prior to that.

Anyway, congrats on your new additions!
