help with my marbled

spikeyhairedpunk Nov 17, 2003 07:59 PM

hey folks, ive had my marbled for about 1/2 a year now, and hes gotten huge since ive gotten him (easily around the 12 inch mark) and im really happy about that but a couple things conern me. Firstly i never see this guy eat (im pretty positive its a guy hes got the bulges at the base of this tail) i figure hes prolly just sneaky and does it when im not looking, but he still poops. His stomach, right before his back legs looks kind of sucked in, and thin, is this normal for geckos? Thirdly is it normal for him to hate water? Ive a mist on him he really gets p*ss*d off at me and runs to the other side of the cage. Actually he has a real bad temper, i named him Raphael after the hotheaded ninja turtle.

Well if he grows, then he's eating. Geckos are slim by nature but overfed ones tend to be fat. It is best to keep geckos slim as too much fat becomes stored and they cant use it nor process it. It is normal for them to run away since they want to sustain their body temp as high as they can through the night and water is cold. Try spraying hot water, nearly boiling onto your hand. You will see it comes out lukewarm after it travels through the air. Now imagine room temp water.....not too pleasant. In any case, they do tend to bite so thats ok too. Sounds like you're doing good if hes growing and is active.
