does anyone have a good Petco story?

ninja_tortoise Nov 17, 2003 08:27 PM

my petco isn't bad. the condition aren't horrible, the people who work there are decent, and know most of what they are talking about. the only beef i have with them is mixing species in tanks, like anoles and tree frogs.
that's about it.
so tell all people :0)

My petco is great! The employees are great too, and the mostly knwo what they're talking about. They love me coming in to visit with my lizards too. They're so nice. They have reptiles too. The cages are nice and clean and decorated very nicely. They have small little bearded dragons, and in the cage, they had a bowl of mealworms. Owning beardies myself, I let them know, just kind of mentioned that they could be fatal to beardies, espeacially that size. I didnt really expect them to care, i didnt make a big deal or anything, i just planned to menetion it next time i came in. But now everytime I come in, there are no mealworms in their cage. They really care.

There's a Petco or Petsmart(I don't know which one) near my school that's offiliated w/a herpetological group. I haven't been in the place yet.

I worked in Petco in the NE for over seven years.I had 20 years in reptile rescue. Also 30 years raising parrots.I know that doesnt make me an expert but the people I worked with were Very knowledgable in their depts also.We need to understand that there are going to be differences of opinion.I wish I had a dime for every time I was told a different way to take care of iguanas alone.I must confess that I helped with some sad situations but they were usually smaller pet stores or newspaper sales. No One is perfect!and everyone is learning. It is also the potential owners responsibility to research the pet they are buying and then ask questions.
