hey all,

i was just wondering what ur beardies love best as a treat. I've been wondering for some time now because i use the normal things(like mealworms/waxworms) for treats and i was wondering what other people use (possibly fruits and veggies?????)

My beardies favorite food of all time is waxworms, followed by mealworms and crickets. He also like fruit, especially bananas. Remember, fruit and worms should be treats, not staple items in their diet. Beardies tend to get spoiled if they eat too much of the good stuff.

Non-living Cantaloupe for the big one, not sure yet on the small one. Living, probably silkworms which CAN be given as a staple.

Superworms and waxworms. Gordo eats his veggies dutifully now (still won't touch the pellets)and I give still give crickets as an everyday part of his diet. He just doesn't get that glimmer in his eyes unless it's..."meat".

Will actually swim across a pond to get one. Unfortunately I hear they are not a good staple food for him so I have to limit him to just a few per day.

I dunno, mine loves 'em too. I let the worms eat Cricket Gutload prior to feeding them to him, and he gets all the calcium he needs (aside from supplementing his greens and such...). I also throw in a mixture of Bearded Dragon cubes (moist cubes) and Dragon pellets in his greens dish to give him a more varied diet. I just wish I could get him to eat fruit. He won't touch apples or grapes. Also because of the supers, he stopped eating crickets, which were a royal pain to keep alive anyway.

p.s. - I know you're not supposed to give BDs too many waxworms, but supers are ok as an alternate crix diet.
