sounds like ur water is too cold...i would recomend you do something about it asap...when i first got my turtles...i wasent experienced...and that is what happend slowly to them...and unfortunatley 2 of them died...one got sick...really sick...luckily right when i threw in the heater...the other sick one showed signs of getting better...now i have 2 really super healthy RES..

Hello and thanks for reading!

I have a baby RES, it eats and basks but it doesn't react much (it seems very inactive). All it does is either sit and bask or sit in the water and not move much. When I approach the tank, all other baby RES would kind of get nervous, move their head/eyes to stare at me or even jump down to the water. But this specific RES doesn't move a bit at all (if its eyes are closed it would keep the eyes closed). It seems like this baby doesn't care about a thing at all. One other issue with this turtle is that its skin is rather grayish (with no yellow/green markings on the legs). So is this turtle sick??? or is it just one of those that doesn't get scared and is totally inactive???

Thanks

i cant really think of why that is....all i can think of...and this may kinda sound stupid...but maybe your turtle is bored...some turtles love waterfalls...or bubbles....they love chasin fish around....try introuducing new things to your tank, it might just make ur turtle feel more alive...

HI,

Thanks for your response. I don't think my turtle is bored though because I have a group of 5 baby RES, and I have a waterfall creating strong currents on one end of the tank...and my other turtles are all pretty active. Only this one little baby is always inactive....I will introduce a few fish in the next few days and see if there is any improvement.

im not sure if this might be the case...but i heard that sometimes RES act like this when they feel intimitated...is your res getting the same amount of food as the others?...sometimes the others dominate over one another...and this kinda stresses them out...so they become inactive...could this be the case?

I think it might very well be possible. When I feed them, this little baby usually doesn't go in to the water immediately and eat (while all the others are eating aggressively). After the others are done, then this little baby goes into the water and eat (usually I put in a lot of extra pellets so this little baby still gets a bunch to eat). So it there anyway to improve this??
