burm not eating

pimpbot007 Nov 17, 2003 10:20 PM

i rescued a 10 foot burm about 3 weeks ago and thus far have been unable to get him to eat, when i got him i believe he had burned his face on a heat lamp or something. his face looked a little black and wierd and his tongue isnt right. it is curved and the points are gone. maybe he cant smell the food. he was also breathing wierd, raspy like he had water in his lungs. i asked about that before and got some good advice about keeping him hot and humid. i did so and now he sounds fine and isnt raspy but still doesnt eat. his face looks alot better but his tungue is still wierd. any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

Considering he has been thru alot of trauma he may just not be ready to eat yet. Also possible is that he is looking to breed and refusing food accordingly. Keep trying.

Since his tongue may be damaged, be sure his food (hopefully dead) is nice and warm (put in baggy, place in hot water for a bit). This may help.
