How many crickets should frill eat?

lazandlouie Nov 17, 2003 11:10 PM

My frilled dragon is about 3 to 6 months old and I was wondering how many crickets he should be eating a day? I bought him about a week ago and hes been eating about 4 to 6 a day. He has a plant in his 55 gallon lizard lounge where crickets sometimes hideout, is this a big problem, do you think he can catch them if he wants to? And is it bad to leave live crickets in the aquarium overnight? Thanks Everyone for any help!!

It's normal for them not to eat very much until they get settled into their new cage. Make sure the crickets aren't too big (should be about as long as the distance between his/her eyes).. a couple of dozen appropriate sized crickets is about an average meal. Also, the hot end of your tank should have an air temp of about 100°-105°F.

Crickets like to chew on things including lizards, so if you're going to leave a few loose crickets in the cage I'd leave something for them to eat... like some greens/small piece of fruit. Or you can break the crickets jumping legs off and use a shallow feeding dish.
