Calcium Powder Question

gex53 Nov 18, 2003 01:04 AM

When I went to buy calcium powder from the pet shop, I wasnt sure which kind to get. The owner of the pet shop recomended ReptoCal. It is a Tetrafauna product. No website I saw mentioned this product. Is this fine or should I switch to Repcal or Miner-all?
One more quick question. Does the t.v. and computer screen bother the geckos at night? Does the sound from the t.v. or radio bother them at any time??
Sorry about all these basic questions but i couldnt find the answers on any websites that I found.
I appreciate the help.

Thanks,
Dennis

Hey, Dennis!

When I first started out I wasn't too sure which brand was best either and I was suggested RepCal by tetra Fauna. I used that for a while until it ran out. Now I am using "T-Rex 2:0 Calcium/No Phospurous". It works great! There are tubs of calcium you can usally buy online that hear are awesome. You might want to buy herptivite by ZooMed as well for a vitamin/mineral supplement. The televison/radio/PC shouldn't bother the geckos. I leave my TV on ALL night long sometimes because I just crash, but they don't care about it or the noise and continue to do their routines. The noise from the TV doesn't bug my geckos and the Radio doesn't either. My PC in my room doesn't work right now so.. I don't know, but I really don't think any of these are a problem. I prefer not to boom anything aorund the though, lol. Might be a little bit scary for em'. Someone could more then likely inform your better ont he calcium thing! Take care!

I have used over the years, repcal and herptivite. I liked those but I diluted the repcal with d3 with a can of repcal w/o d3 because they put so much d3 in there. I am currently using Jurrassipet calcium and bone aid. I like them both because they really stick to the crix.

Hey guys and gals

I am just using Zoo Med's Reptivits for the mineral supplement; T-Rex 2:0 calcium/no phosphorus; and i use sandfire super foods- crickt diet for my crik's. I also found that the cricket diet is great for mealworms also.

I'd say the tv and noise you make during the day would bother them more (since this is when they want to sleep). I know mine is a little more shy during the weekends when i'm home all day (probably because I'm keeping her up with all the noise I make).

Mine was a little thrown off by the tv and radio at first, and she would always be hiding when my alarm clock went off, but lately she's gotten used to them. I've seen her sleeping during the day when my tv's on, so it looks like she's fine with it. And lately she's stayed out of her hides even when my alarm clock's going off, so it appears she's adapted.

She doesn't run and hide anymore when I start playing my acoustic guitar either.

They're more adaptable than people give them credit for. But I'm sure it depends on the individual and their personality.
