moody spike...

lissag25 Nov 18, 2003 02:01 AM

spike just woke up from his burmation last week and has been really moody ever since... constant glass dancing, tipping over bowls climbing unto light fixtures etc (thank god the basking bulb is surronded by screen).... so i've been letting him out as much as possible ..while he was out today i fed him a bunch of canned crickets and some silkies and let him "go play" as he was crawling down my knee to get to the ottoman i decided to pick him up and low and behold he bit me... more like knawed on my finger and had no intention of letting go so i had to force it out... he was not stressed or scared.. he was perfectly happy... so i wanted to know what everyone thought.. do male beardies have mood changes after a few burmations, are they attracted to nail polish (because my babies nip at my hands when i am wearing it too)or did he just want to go... and didn't want me to pick him up... i don't really think the last one.. so i have come to the conclusion that it was an accident.. he probably thought my finger looked tasty.. because i have been bit plenty of times by plenty of things and to me it felt like an accidental bite. aww well if he bites again i'll still love him.. maybe his mood will pic up when he gets his new tank this friday... lets hope !!

If it was a nice bright color, then it was probably the nail polish

I agree with Lisa. Sounds like he was attracted to the nail polish. Thank goodness I hardly wear any. Now I know. LOL

My adult males are often excited and act like they are ready to mate when they come out of brumation. My males always do a thorough house search after brumation to find where I have my females (in a seperate room). It's amazing how smart they are. I will let one of my males run around the house (supervised of course) and he will head straight to the beardie room! He knows where the females are!

Good luck with Spike and I hope he doesn't bite you anymore.
