Leaf Liter?

-WiZaRd May 31, 2003 06:41 PM

What kind of leaf liter do you use? And do I have to do anything to it before I add it to my tank (ex. Bake it or freeze it)?

I use magnolia leaves in my tank. Some people use oak too, not sure about any others. I usually just go to a tree at a friends house where they don't use pesticides, then take some home. I rinse them under hot water, then soak them for a while. And finally throw them in the tank

I use wysteria leaves. Basicly you can use any non-poisonous leaf that is dead or dying. I wouldnt even worry about cleaning it, as long as you're sure it's pesticide free. Youd be amazed at how many small insects there can be in fresh leaf litter. Makes a very nurticious and fun treat for your frogs Here's a couple pics of the leaf litter in my golden mantella vivarium, if you want to see more, click the link. photos.imageevent.com/audiomaster/goldenmantellavivarium/
