brumation

mrrooster2u Nov 18, 2003 08:33 AM

Do I have to hibernate both the male and female or just the male? I was told that only the male needs to be brumated. I have to easterns that I am getting ready to breed. Any info would be appreciated. Also, is an incubator an absolute requirement, or can I get the eggs to hatch without one. Thanks,
Eric

I think that reproduction is more likely to be synchronized if both male and female are brumated than if only one is.

An incubator may or may not be required. I hatched many eggs of various snake species without one because the temperature in the second floor of the house was fine for incubation. Then we got central air conditioning, and I had to build an incubator because nowhere in the house was warm enough.
