freaky shedding question

Big Donnie BRASC May 31, 2003 07:00 PM

I have kept snakes for as long as I can remember , and today I discovered something that I've never seen before. I have a few red milk snakes (L. t syspila) One of them has only been with me for about 3 weeks, and shed about a week after I got him. Then today I moved him to a new enclosure, and I found ANOTHER shed in there!!! Has anyone elsa had a juvie snake shed twice within ten days?! This particular snake has not eaten anything but one skink tail since I caught him!

Thx

My hatchling tricolors, such as Sinaloans, Nelson's, Hondo, Pueblans, etc. usually will shed about once every 3 weeks during the rapid growth stage (first year). Come to think of it, all my hatchling snakes shed on about that schedule, except maybe GTP's. However, that's when they are being fed all they will eat every 3 or 4 days. Maybe he had some sort of an injury or ailment with his skin that he's trying to heal?
