Directions for Provent A mite??

texasboa71 Nov 18, 2003 01:06 PM

The directions to me weren't very clear. Maybe I missed it but I didn't see any directions for spraying the actual reptile (burmese). How do you go about spraying the reptile? TIA

What are you using to spray?

I've been using Black Knight, successfully. I think thats how you spell it, lol. Anyway........

I would clean the cage completely out.

I am not a big fan of real wood products, if you are, make sure
you either bake them in the oven to kill anything in them, and spray them with the anti-mite product you are using.

Then, I sprayed all the seems of the cage with it. Edges, door sills, vent openings, all along the frame.

I then would spray it freely in the cage, not too thick though, just lettting it fogg up in it.

Leave the cage in an open area to air out. DO NOT PUT YOUR SNAKE IN until it is clean air in their for them to breath.

DO NOT PUT YOUR WATER BOWL back in until atleast a day has passed.

I use it lightly on my burm, covering her head when I spray it on. If you want to get it on their face, spray a small bit on your hand, and be careful where you put it on the face. Try not to get it in their eyes or nose or mouth, just moderately on the head.

My vet one time put frontline spray on her, that is good for about 4 weeks. But you cant use frontline to clean out the cage with.

Goodluck

I probably wouldn't put the stuff directly on my hand. I have heard that with large constrictors you can spray a small amount on a cloth and wipe the snake down.

Do not spray your snake! Since the directions on the can say to REMOVE the reptile and water bowl from the cage and spray the substrate, do that. You might put your pythons in a container with a little tepid water so some of those nasty mites can drown while you are dealing with its cage.

Good luck,
Joan
