Foods fed to leopard geckos other than mealworms, crickets or wax worms.

I have a leopard gecko named Echo greco, she is about 9 or 10 years old. Last year she had MBD, from laying eggs. She wasn't able to close her mouth. I gave her liquid calcium and extra Rep-cal by mixing with chicken baby food and placing a drop on her lips at least three times a day. Finally, she got better.
This year, I have been giving her frozen pinkies, and dead fallen baby unfeathered birds in addition to grubs, king mealworms, mealworms/larvee, crickets and wax worms. I feed her by hand because the crickets and mealworms keep getting away. I didn't have the heart to feed her pinkies when she was younger. because I thought they had to be alive. Then several months ago, one of my gerbils had a dead pinkie baby and I was about to discard it, when I remembered Echo. I showed it to her and she swallowed it whole. A few times she tried earthworms but she doesn't like them. If I can find them, she will eat the pupae of moths or beetles. I've never tried butterworms.

I've always fed her and Leo her mate all kinds of bugs from my yard or vegatable garden. Leo wont eat pinkies or birds. but will eat everything else.

Question : Have you fed your gecko food other than mealworms crickets or wax worms?

Hold on a second, baby birds and insects from your yard??? The insects from your yard are full of parasites and just a bunch of diseases waiting to find a new host(your leo). I dont know where you are getting the baby birds, but they seem like they would be way to big, or way to bony. Just stick with gutloaded mealies and crix, they do just fine.

to feed your leo wild caught insects or anything else. They can transmit parasites, bacteria, and other infecious agents to your gecko. Also, those bugs are often contaminated with pesticides, also not good for your leo.

If you want alternate food items, you could try Silkworms or butterworms.

I live in Colorado, and this year there are a ton of miller months migrating to the mountains. One of the news chanels did a special on them, and I found out that the black bears gourge themselves on millers when they get the chance, and that they are a huge source of nutrition for so much of the wildlife around here. So I caught a few and fed them to my gex one day. They loved them
