how can I Find frogs in my yard?

embibble May 31, 2003 07:39 PM

Well I would like to find some frogs (or toads actually) in my back yard. We have found toads before but we have lived here for 8 yrs or so and I've only seen like 3 toads. Our back yard is half forested area and have clean cut green gass. There are no ponds or lakes near me, how can I find some toads, were should I look? I posted a similar post in the toad forum hopefully someone can help there too. I would like to find some spring peepers if possible any ideas?

Frogs are almost always found in wet areas. Try in a sluggish area near a creek for frogs. When it rains out in the woods, go looking under or on leaves of the trees.

Best time to look is dusk and after for peepers and just go around in moist areas, like around ponds and marshes.Just go and listen to what the peepers are singing and call a series of "peeps" I have caught 5 this way.
