While recently pursuing my field efforts on C. bottae, I came across a juvenile or small subadult Gopher Snake on Breckenridge Mt., Kern County, Calif. that has a pattern I have never seen before.

I do not possess a camera but the snake was photographed on 5/25 by Brad Alexander. So if anyone knows Brad and wishes to view this snake, you might ask if he would post the photo.

When I first observed the snake under a rock, I immediately thought it was a rattlesnake as its upper dorsal pattern mimics the pattern I have observed on some rattlesnakes.
