RES Baby is pooping out 3 inch white long things...worms????

BubblesMamma Nov 18, 2003 11:26 PM

Hello to all. I have had a RES for about a month now. I got home from work and this 3 inch white thing was coming out it's butt. He got it out and then did it again. Is this worms??? He is in a 10 gallon aquarium with a heater, filter, basking area, and light. He has been fed feeder guppies, is this causing the worms?
He also eats dried whole shrimp. What should I do???? Thanks!

guppies and minnows are notorious for harboring worms... I made the mistake after getting my snappers dewormed months ago of feeding the guppies... let me put it this way... the second guppy to bite the dust was bit clean in half, and a worm popped out into the bottom of the tank. Now I have both snappers segregated and feed them chicken, pellets, beef heart and a thawed out rosie red... no more guppies for them...

Go to the vet with a stool sample and a piece of the worm, and get him dewormed, they should use droncin injection if it is tapeworms... And ask many many questions about it... most vets love the attention...

Dont let the vet use ivermectin... it has a high fatality rate in herps
