I use to have a californian newt with my FBTs, but it was in a 29 gallon tank, and the setup was one of those viquariums. The toads hanged out in the streamed and just sat in it, and the californian newt hanged out just in the deeper water. But a ten gallon is to small, and toxins would build up quick.

Nothing should be housed with firebellies, other than other firebellies. If someone accidentally nips one of the firebellies while eating they will die from the toads toxins Plus, firebellies can be pretty hyper feeders and could snap at the newt, resulting in a tailess or even dead newt.

Plus, as stated, a 10 gallon is too small to add more to it.
