Digital Proportional Controlled Space Heater

rpruitt1 Nov 19, 2003 01:56 AM

I just built my first one. It has a professional grade Digital Proportional Thermostat hooked up to it. It has 4 programmable tempatures per day. 2000 Watt capacity!! So, I can drop the temps at night. This is perfect for cycling Boas. These are very resonable to build and the cost's are about the same has a Helix for the whole setup.

Is that an oil heater? Would you post this to the cage forum, also and give details? There was some discussion awhile back on one of the forums that led me to believe that the slow responding oil heaters worked best with an on/off type thermostat VS a proportional one. I am currently just using the internal thermostat in my oil heater until I can get a backup thermostat. I understand these have a problem with the internal thermostat sticking on the ON position. I am very interested in your setup and its performance. Frank

I also recently purchased a proportional thermostat and electric heater to heat my room. It works great! This method along with keeping my hot spots the same keeps the temps exactly the same in all of my cages. One thing I noticed right away is that all of my younger boas choose to lay in the same spot in their enclosures. It reminds me of how they would pile up if they were all in the same cage. Here is a pic of what I am taliking about...
