Check out Muffins new king snake head.... question

See how his Mexican King Snake has a clearly defined head which tapers off into a neck and then the body gets only slightly bigger? (The one at the Reptile store in my area does the same thing). Well my MKS's head is the same size as his neck and then the body gets a lot bigger. The biggist part being about the size of a silver dollar (or a bit more). His nose seems short to me (meaning, not much space between his eyes and the end of his nose). His face reminds me of a bulldog. He is longer than my 48" 60 gallon aquarium. He's pitch black though his bottom side seems a tad lighter. I was told he is two years old. I hope to figure out how to do pix someday but till then.... does this sound like a MBK to you all? Yeah... I'm still trying to figure this out.

Hmmm... if he's that big and really only 2 years old, it sounds like a black milk. A black milk of that age would also probably have some traces of white bands on his belly, whereas a MBK would have white speckles on his back or sides if he had them anywhere. Black milks also have less of a "neck" and a shorter "nose" than MBKs which also fits your story. Does he have any traces of red on or between his scales? That would be a dead giveaway. I would think, though, given the price difference and how different they look as hatchlings, the person you got it from would have known if it were a black milk... I'd be interested to hear more about how you acquired him.

I got the snake on the internet. No negative feedback on the BOI about the seller. The guy put in his ad that the snake was proven... and told me he was 2 years old... but ya never know. He was in a hurry to make some money, so could have taken that into consideration as far as the price. It has no speckling of any sort, nor any red that I can see. It's hard to explain his underside, as far as its being lighter. It's like it's a floresent DARK grey instead of a pitch black. Or maybe I should say it looks 3D. Or that it's like you're looking through a cloudy colored shinny peice of glass into a dark grey color underneath. I wish I had a pic of it cuz I'm really failing at discribing it. Oh, and he has no neck what-so-ever.
