My Bigger female Papuan is copulating right now and I am just praying

frank k Nov 19, 2003 12:24 PM

that I get a nice big fat gravid female soon. She looked like she was gravid last year but fooled me so I am keeping my fingers crossed. Just thought I would share. Also, I introduced my pure Jungle Carpets last night and had copulation within the hour and they were still hooked up this morning. Hopefully these are going to lead to a great breeding season for me and I hope everyone else's projects are going along as planned. Frank Kincade.

Keep us posted, and I can imagine a lot of others are praying for you too!
How long did you leave them together? Are you planning on multiple re-introductions?
Thanks and my fingers are crossed for you.

business. They had been cooling for about 5 weeks and the nighttime temps are still being manipulated into the lower 70's. I will gradually bring them back up to totally normal temperatures. I will separate and re-introduce the pairs throughout the breeding season until I have some insight as to whether the females are gravid or not (lack of interest on her part in the male, obvious swelling, basking in the heat, rolling over her belly, etc..). How are yours doing?

Mine is doing well- still in the market for males, of course. Ideally I'd have a 3.6 group, which is my target over the next year or two. Even if I did have a male ready, its at least still a year too early to try for that female I've posted her.
Thats great news that both are "interested" in eachother on the first introduction. I'm curious to see what size clutch your larger female would produce, and hopefully we'll find out soon.
Take care,
SWA

You're like 10% there! LOL

Get her to ovulate, retain, lay, then it's up to you to incubate..I wish you the best. Is this the Wc '97 pair that went for me?

take care,
Jordan

all night and when I came home this afternoon had gone to their separate corners. I will leave them together for a few more days then give them a break. After a few days rest I am going to send the male in with the other big female (the first one I got from you) and see what happens. Thanks for your input on the phone and I'll keep you posted. Here's a picture of the first Papuan female I got from you this summer.
