Tips on keeping greens fresh?

Hefe Nov 19, 2003 04:40 PM

Anyone have any tips on keeping Dandelion and mustard greens fresh the longest? Collards last almost a week by just refridgerating them but the other 2 are giving me problems? Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated!!

I have found that if I take them out of the plastic bags, then put them in the shopping bags, they last alot longer. Especially if you put a wet papertowel in the bag.

There is a great product by tupperware called fridge smart (or is it fridge saver?) that is designed to keep produce fresher longer. I have had success keeping greens fresh for 2 weeks, collards will last almost three. I wash everything and dry completly. Then I put the bunchs (removing any metal ties) into the fridge saver. These days I dont need it as much since I am feeding soooo many vege heads, but when my numbers get down to 4 or so I have great success with this. I am even able to keep a chopped salad mix fresh for at least a week and a half.
