Will any red bulb work, or is there a certain kind. I just have a regular 25 watt party light. It emits quite a bit of light though, so I just wanted to make sure it wasnt bothering or harming my gecko.
Thanks

Hi
Are you using this bulb just so you can see your gecko at night or are you using it so you can see him and also provide heat.
A party bulb and a reptile bulb are different.
TLB
This is for a night period. I'm using a 60 watt light for the day period. My temps are just fine on both sides. Everybody sais that you can use red bulbs so you can see your gecko at night. Thats what i'm using the red bulb for.
Hi
Since you are just using it to see your gecko at night and not also for heat, then it is fine.
Why I had asked is because party bulbs don't put out the heat for warmth and reptile bulbs do, but like I said above it is just fine for looking at your gecko since it isn't needed for heat.
Take Care, TLB
Some of the red or purple bulbs I use are made by ESU. You can find them at www.thatpetplace.com or www.herpsupplies.com They give off very little light but give off lots of heat and last a long time!
