128 year old arizona Mt. king

wbrown Nov 19, 2003 10:06 PM

I knew that topic would get your attention. I just wanted to post this picture here as I thought the readers of this forum would enjoy seeing a piece of kingsnake history. It is an authentic print from a govt. sanctioned exploration of the Southwest United States in 1875. It depicts two color forms of the Arizona Mountain Kingsnake. The old scientific name Ophibolus pyrromelas is used at the bottom of the print.
Hope you enjoyed seeing it.

the arizona mountain kings remain one of my favorite kingsnakes I also am fond of the chiuauh and hucchuca mountain kings.
how much does a pair of hatchling arizona mountain kings usually cost. i know of someone who has an unrelated pair of them for sale. i will probably wait till next year before I get any more snakes though. I have 12 now. 1 pair of western hognoses and rest are different bloodlines of california kingsnakes. all of mine are 2003 hatchlings.

Wow, that's a lot of snakes! Do you hold all of them every day, or a few every day and rotate through? Are they all tame?

All of them are really gentle. I handle them frequently. I try not to handle them for a few days if they have eaten or are shedding. I will post some pics of the new trio albino lavender california kings I got when I get a chance. I would like to get 2 pairs of arizona mountain kingsnakes this year but I am wating till next to do that along with the 2 pairs of jungle carpets.
