How do you STOP a MBK from musking?

Smuffin Nov 20, 2003 06:29 AM

I just purchased a MBK and she never musked on me until i fed her. She ate 1 pinkie and 1 fuzzie. Every single time I pick her up I get musked on and it is horrible. I have to mop my floor because it pours everywhere. My dog starts drooling because he smells it. I have to jump in the shower because the smell is so bad. Why is she doing this? If i don't feed her as often will that help for her not to musk on me?
Gee if that's the case she want be eating alot...Your help is appreciated.

Seriously, If she is musking you and you immediately put her back in her enclosure, you are conditioning her to musk you every time she doesnt want to be held.

I had a pueblan milk that was the same way. Every time I got him out of his enclosure, he would musk me. To break him of it I had an old towel and an old t-shirt that I used when I got him out. I would put the towel on the floor. Then when I got him out I would hold him over the towel and use the t-shirt to hold him near his vent with the so I wouldnt have a hand full of musk/feces. Once he was done musking/pooping, then I would just handle him as normal. After about a month of this I guess he either grew out of it, or realized that wasnt getting him anywhere and he stopped.

Try it and see if it works for you.
