Shedding Problem

martha Nov 20, 2003 10:37 AM

Hi All - I have a 3 year old ATB who up 'til now has never had a problem shedding. He has always shed in one piece, in one night. Sadly, for the past week or so he has been trying to shed and having an awful time at it. I mist his enclosure 1-2 times a day - the humidity is relatively high and nothing has changed recently. How long should I let this go on before I try to help? He has an awful temperment so I have been avoiding this, but do I need to soak him? He has a large water bowl and certainly could soak himself but doesn't seem to be taking advantage of it. I'd be grateful for any and all advice.

Thanks,
Martha

When I get a tough shed with any of mine, I put them in a pillow case or other snake bag that's been soaked in luke warm water. The bag provides the moisture and direct contact to really soften the skin.

A few hours in the bag usually does the trick and I find the remaining skin left at the bottom of the bag.

Regards.
