Beardie drop dead.. Talk about unexpected..

jusmebabe Nov 20, 2003 10:46 AM

Yesterday around 5pm I put the night light on his cage and left the flourescent on til i got back from the store.
He was sitting on his large branch after running around.
He was very alert.
Well the 20 minutes i was gone he was dead.
Found him on his back.
Talk about a quick death. The pic is him about an hour after i found him.. He almost looks alive..
Well he is in his final resting place (you dont wanna know lol)..

OMG! I am so very sorry.

Yes, that was quick... especially if you have not seen any previous signs of illness or problems.

I wonder if he fell off his basking log or ran into the glass to hard and broke his neck...only a necropsy can tell why he died so unexpectedly...however..giving the 'burial' method you used, a necropsy is now out of the question.

I doubt he fell off the branch as it was only about 2 ft from the bottom of the tank.
As for running into glass also doubtful. When i say running more of scampering after food and not much room to get running enough to hit hard..
I believe it was something internal but what who knows.
I never planned on a necropsy that's why i didn't save it.
He was a great little guy (6 months old) but things happen..

Fortunately, I've never lost a bd...and I'm sorry for your loss.

But, isn't it even stranger that you found him on his back?
