alot of animals come and go from exporters, most never have solid locality data (you should try to muddle thru carpet and scrub pythons if you want to see how messed up locality data really is) and with animals as variable as pythons, without exact locality data from the collector or importer, you can never be sure. and even if you find an animal that looks almost exactly like yours...no guarantee...variable animals often have patten or color specific to an area, but, they are variable and even a given population can have different animals. at best you can hope to lable it a locality type, meaning it looks similar to a specific locality, but because youre not sure you cant call it a definite locale, see also green tree pythons, aru-type, biak-type, tho alot of people drop the type, which can lead to confusion, theres been alot of work with the various pythons and their relationships with each other, im sure the more wide spread pythons like carpets, scrubs, retics, that have so many locales, will be worked over and quite possibly subspeciated or speciated...its all fun tho, always something new to learn.
hope i helped in any way...

Its mostly out of curiosity,it dosn't really matter much,I find thenm all gorgeous but thought it would give me a better idea of their size possibilities as adults,so to be on the safe side, their housing requirements are quite big for their present size!!
it can be confusing, when i had my retic, little sh*t as i called him at feeding time, i tried my best to match locality, i knew id never know for sure, but, the search was fun, not to mention seeing all the different appearances found in one species. scrub pythons are a little harder to correctly identify, which could be part of their appeal to me, but then again once i got my first scrub python i was an addict...who am i kidding, once i got my first python i was an addict...glad i could be ofsome help...
