New Cage And Substrate Question?

Davidmore1 Nov 20, 2003 12:44 PM

I just bought my beardie moe A new 75 gallon long tank and sand for the substrate he is 13 inches long. My question is I just put him in the cage and he is walking around touching his tounge to the sand is this normal and will it stop once he gets use to his new home. he was on newspaper in his old tank. Just don't want him getting impacted BTW I feed him in a bare rubbermaid tube.

My bd often licks his basking spot and other cage fixtures. I think they taste it to identify it (like babies, actually).

that is what it is. it is natural. they don't get impacted from that. When introducing new beardies they tend to lick each other. Even if they were caged together before hand.
