Resent purchase of Bearded Pygmey Chameleons...

Justin M Nov 20, 2003 02:28 PM

I just wanted to notify you all that RK reptiles is one of the best companies I have delt with thus far. Their customer service was outstanding and couldn't be any happier with the chameleons I received.
Also, I had some questions for ya. I have some small Rhampholean Brevicaudatus and one is shedding and was wondering what would help to ease the shed because I know with the shipping she is probably stressed and don't want to add to it. Also, in one of the tanks they all seem to hang on the screen top. It started with just one but now they have all been seen doing this and I was wondering what the reasoning is for this. This is a temporary tank that these 3 are in and I think it may because it is a 10 gal aquarium. I have a lot of cover and what not but I think this may be the reason. They will only be in this until Friday at the latest. With them hanging on the top makes it hard to get in there and feed them. Anyways, any posts are welcome.

Ease the shed with gentle misting with warm water. As for hanging from the top, I notice a lot of "new" chams do this when put in new cages. They may be reacting to the warmer lighter area, the strange new territory (for most chams higher is safer), a smaller space, etc. Just make sure your heat spot isn't making the mesh too hot. You could remove any branches that give them access to the top screen.
