Heat & UV hood

lizard-lady Nov 20, 2003 03:03 PM

I have a hood type fixture for my heat and UV bulbs on my skink's tank. But it's not working out. The basking bulbs keep blowing out. The fixture is very awkward too as I have no room to put it anywhere when I'm feeding Slytherin, changing water, ect. I could easily go and get 2 ceramic shop lights with the alumnium dome and a strip for the UV bulb. The only thing I have cats that like to play Mountain Lion and sit on top of my other cage which is a Vision cage. They adventually will "discover" Slytherin's tank and start sitting on it. I'm afraid they'll knock the fixtures off the tank. Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can remidy this?

I've read that if you put double-sided sticky tape on the edges of a surface, the cats hate that and won't get up on it. Might be worth a shot.

Peter: It's OK, I'll handle it. I read a book about something like this.
Brian: Are you sure it was a book? Are you sure it wasn't NOTHING?
