MY BEARDED DRAGON HAS THE RUNS!!!

cv768 Nov 20, 2003 05:47 PM

My bearded dragon (male) is 3 years old...I only feed him veggies but they are supplemented with calcium and he gets a few crickets on the weekend (dusted). He seems to have very runny poop. The poop is filled with veggies and is not bloody at all. He acts healthy and is always craving attention. He eats regularly every morning and his behavior seems very normal, he doesn't seem sick at all. At first I thought nothing of it...thinking it would clear up in a few days but it seems this has gone on for 2 weeks now.

The people that owned him prior to me fed him strictly veggies and never gave him calcium. I don't know whether this has an effect or not. The lady said as soon as he turned 2 he recieved no more crickets or calcium because she said it gave him the runs...I don't know what to think...i might bring him to the vet...but first...

ANY SUGGESTIONS??

Just prepackaged frozen veggies---carrots, peas, beans...then bok choy and snow peas. That's about it.

If he has always eaten this and has the runs, you need to take a fecal sample in tot he vet.
He really should be eating dark leafy greens too (collard, mustard, dandelion, kale etc.)
