Woma Picture

PKossak Nov 20, 2003 07:30 PM

Here's a pic of my '03 male Woma. This is my first Woma, and I love these guys! Now I just need to find him a mate.

Only problem with him is that he is only eating live, where I thought that Woma's were supposed to be really ravenous and not hesitant with food? Any suggestions?

Also, it's kinda funny, but anytime I'm in the room he comes out of his hide box and starts striking at me like crazy no matter where in the room I am. As soon as I get him out though, he settles down. I thought they were real calm? Lol, my guy thinks he's a King Cobra when in his cage.

Nice snake you have there. I have a pair and they're young but over 4 foot. They went off feed for a while, 3 months for the female actually but I realised I was overfeeding them a bit so I was not worried about the fasting. When she snapped out of it she would only take live rats for a few feedings. She also occasionally liked F/T off tongs, and even just laid in her tank. As long as she eats I am happy, but F/T is preferred. Mine never struck at the glass but i have been bit by both of them once so far. I have to say though, a few other times they were acting aggressive in the tanks and I fought the fear and lifted them with a hook and they settled down almost instantly when I got them out. Because of all I'd read abot them being so placid I used to just reach in and pic them up, and also just reach in for the water bowl and too clean. Not anymore......... For the mostpart I believe with a little caution [which should always be the case anyways] my Womas are by far one of the most trustworthy snakes I own. I bet they'd be even more mellow if I had the time to handle them as much as I want to. Enjoy your snake. Tom

I have one like that too. She is nuts. Strikes at anything and everything. Another snake in a tub next to her, shadows, it doesn't matter. She is getting a little bit better. I try to hold her as much as possible.

As you can see in the pic. I was having trouble removing a piece of stuck shed...
