Just wondering

I started feeding my ball python prekilled mice a few months ago. The first mice I bought prekilled from LLL reptile in oceanside but I didnt kept them cool enough and they rotted and when drop the in with the snake the mouse would break and guts and some other clear stuff would come out so I had to get rid of them after using 3 weeks or so. I thought I would just start getting one mouse at a time and prekill it myself but sometimes my snake wont eat and I frease them my for later. I know they are cold enough now because they are frozen when they come out. The last mouse I feed my snake blow up or popped when I feed it to him. Blood and guts everywhere, I had to wash my snake off after. I was just wondering if anyone else has had this happen to them. I asked my friend about it and he has never had it happen to him.

How are you thawing them? Thawing them too fast and hot or too long and cold may create more rot and lead to explosions. I take from the freezer and put directly in hot water. NOT HOT, but what you would wash with. Others place the mouse on or under a heat lamp.
