Greenies and Brownies

Sarah99 Nov 21, 2003 10:28 AM

There are some people on another forum I was checking out that are trying to convince my husband and I that there are Green WTF and Brown WTF... I am saying that the only kinds there are, are the blue phase and the green ones and that both can turn brown but that doesn't make them brown whites...

What do you think?

well theyre right to a certain extent. yes, there are blue phases-those are australian whites. there are green phases-those are australian whites as well. the muddy purply browny ones are indonesian whites. all can turn brown, yep. i have one of each and the color difference is distinct. my blue is brown while he sleeps with blue around his edges when hes awake hes a bright bright blue, sometimes even green,it depends, my green one is green while shes sleeping and brown while shes awake, i have a male whos completely brown, and is brown while hes sleeping or awake. when hes stressed,he turns green. so it depends on the individuals themselves sometimes.

So here's a question...

Since there are different White's from different places... can they all be housed together? And if they can, can you breed the Aussies with the Indos? Green phase with Blue?

I don't have any, nor do I plan to get any... I was just curious.

Ok cool. I was just wondering. So it's kinda like humans... same species just from different countries... right? (the ONLY time I'd ever make a human/amphibian comparison)

indos, ausies etc are all classified as the same species, litoria caerulea, therefore they can breed to produce fertile offspring.

becuase some physical characteristics differ from the indo's and aussies some people want to classify the indo's as a sub-species of the whites.

they are both found over the same ecological.enviromental conditions, just different countries.
