Well, their nails are getting longer and longer and they look really sharp too. I never read on any care sites that even mention anything about trimming a turtle's claw. Is it something doable? something to worry about? Any ideas?

I had a friend tell me, that if you don't trim them, that they will start to curl under, and that it may be harful. But, it may not be ture, so I would keep checking around.
You do not need to trim the nails of an aquatic turtle. Long nails in sliders indicate a male - that's what they're there for. Some males have longer nails than others. If you have a proper set-up for box turtles and tortoise, you likely won't have to trim their nails either.

i remember reading somewhere before that you should NOT trim them
